When was the last time you crossed Chenal Parkway at Rahling Road for something other than The Promenade? Until recently there was little reason to. The Promenade at Chenal, at 17711 Chenal Parkway, has long been the side of that intersection people head to on purpose. The land across the road is now Crossroads at Chenal, a 34-acre development by Commercial Realty, LLC. It sits right at the Chenal Parkway and Rahling Road intersection.
Look at what has opened there. The list doesn't read like a shopping destination. It reads like a week of errands: a pharmacy, a title office, a wealth advisor, a hotel for visiting relatives, and two medical buildings on the way. The restaurants are following those trips, and barbecue arrived first.
The first piece was finished in spring 2025. Commercial Realty announced on May 5, 2025, that two retail strip centers at Crossroads were complete. Touchstone Wealth was already a tenant. The retail addresses there use 18020 Chenal Parkway.
The tenants that followed fit the same pattern:
That's a gift shop, a pharmacy, a title office, and a financial firm. These are short stops you can park in front of and finish quickly. The Promenade covers the longer outings across the road.
The biggest projects at Crossroads aren't shops. Pinnacle Dermatology's building is under construction, and the developer describes it as a 19,000-square-foot facility for medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. Little Rock Eye Clinic will follow with a 10,000-square-foot building expected to open in August 2027.
Compare those sizes with the retail space. Commercial Realty's September 2026 announcement lists the remaining retail spaces at about 1,965 to 3,959 square feet. The dermatology building alone is close to five times the size of the largest open storefront. Most of Crossroads' floor space will hold appointments, and appointments bring steady weekday visits all year.
The developer planned for this from the start. Its project overview includes professional and medical office lots, which it says will serve the area's growing population.
The largest building to open this year isn't a clinic. Home2 Suites by Hilton Little Rock West Chenal Parkway opened on September 9, 2026, at 18028 Chenal Parkway. It has 104 suites. The developer's homepage still says the hotel is "scheduled to open September 2026," but the hotel is open and Hilton is taking reservations.
It's an extended-stay format, so every suite has a full kitchen. The hotel also offers complimentary hot breakfast, an outdoor saltwater pool, a patio with fire pits and grills, a putting green, and meeting space. Hotel Equities manages the property. Pinnacle Hotel Group developed it, and McCain Lodging owns it. Integrity Construction built it under a $10 million contract, which Arkansas Business reported in May 2025.
The hotel fits the errand-district pattern. Pinnacle Hotel Group's principal, Chet Patel, said the partners chose the extended-stay model for this corridor, and they describe hotel demand on this part of the west side as growing faster than supply. For a Chenal Valley household, that means a relative staying a week for a new baby or a medical procedure can now have a kitchen across the road from The Promenade.
Here's how the development stands today. Statuses are based on the most recent reports as of early October 2026.

|---|---|---|
| Blue Ember Smokehouse | 1020 Rahling Rd | Open daily |

| Little Rock Eye Clinic | Crossroads at Chenal | Expected August 2027 |
| Wright's Barbecue | 800 Rahling Rd | Targeting end of 2026 |
Blue Ember Smokehouse is the restaurant already open on this side of the intersection. It's at 1020 Rahling Road, and the developer's site plan places it inside the Crossroads development. The West Little Rock location is open 10:45 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and it takes online orders. A 10:45 a.m. opening covers both lunch and early dinner, which fits a district full of offices and clinics.
The second smokehouse is planned a short distance away. Wright's Barbecue, the Northwest Arkansas chain, plans a second Little Rock restaurant at 800 Rahling Road, near The Promenade. Arkansas Business reported in January 2026 that the building would be about 5,000 square feet with a declared value of $4.5 million. That's larger than any retail space Crossroads currently has open. It will be the seventh Wright's location. The chain opened its first brick-and-mortar restaurant in Johnson in 2017, and its first Little Rock location is at 1311 Rebsamen Park Road in Riverdale.
The timing has firmed up since then. In January, founder and CEO Jordan Wright told Arkansas Business he didn't yet have a construction timeline. By October 1, Little Rock Soirée reported that the restaurant will have its signature smokehouse and plans to open by the end of the year. A Benton location opened in August. "By the end of the year" is a target, so expect the date to move. Wright also has a personal tie to the area:
"We're super excited to come to west Little Rock. It's where I grew up. We're pumped to be able to serve all the families and businesses that are out there."
Two smokehouses will soon sit about 200 address numbers apart on the same stretch of Rahling Road. Wright mentioned "families and businesses," and that matches what Crossroads has been building: an office and medical district with a lot of daytime traffic.
The next food addition will be a bakery café. Commercial Realty announced on September 8, 2026, that Paris Baguette will open its first Arkansas location at Crossroads at Chenal. The menu includes pastries, artisan breads, cakes, sandwiches, and coffee. The announcement gave no opening date and no franchisee name. The developer called the deal a sign of "continued growth along the Chenal Parkway and Rahling Road corridor." A bakery café works for a morning before a dermatology appointment, a coffee meeting near the title office, or breakfast with relatives staying at the Home2.
The Promenade keeps adding the kinds of businesses people visit on purpose. A LEGO Store had its grand opening there on August 14, 2026. Haus of Allure, a non-surgical beauty studio, is new to the center. The Cinch Haus, a fitness studio offering lagree, HIIT, and hot sculpting classes, is in the works next to City Silo. Parker Post Boutique moved into a 1,669-square-foot space next to Lush Cosmetics. Shopping, fitness, and beauty services stay on The Promenade side, while Crossroads takes on the prescriptions, closings, and checkups.
Crossroads still has room to grow. Retail space is still available. Pinnacle Dermatology is under construction, and Little Rock Eye Clinic is expected in August 2027. On Rahling Road, Blue Ember is serving and Wright's is targeting the end of the year. For now, the hotel's opening day, the eye clinic's August 2027 target, and Wright's year-end goal are the dates to watch on this side of the intersection.
